Tournament Rules
- All participants must have a confirmed registration and M-Pesa payment verified by admin.
- Players must check in at the venue between 10:00 AM and 10:45 AM with their phone number.
- The game title is Mortal Kombat 1 on PlayStation 5.
- Character selection is open — players may use any character available in the base game.
- DLC characters are NOT allowed unless both players agree and admin approves.
- Matches are Best of 3 rounds (first to 2 wins); Grand Final is Best of 5.
- Each round has a timer of 99 seconds. No pausing without admin consent.
- If a match is not completed within 5 minutes of the scheduled time, admin may give the win to the present player.
- All disputes must be reported to the admin immediately. Admin's decision is final.
- Players must be courteous to opponents, spectators, and staff at all times.
Tournament Format
- Early Rounds – Players compete in preliminary matches (Bo3) depending on final turnout.
- Quarter Finals – Top 8 players fight for 4 spots (Bo3).
- Semi Finals – Top 4 players compete (Bo3).
- Grand Final – Best of 5 — The champion is crowned here.
- Bracket positions are assigned randomly after all players are confirmed.
- BYE matches are given to remaining players when the bracket is not a perfect power of 2.
Allowed Controllers
- Official PS5 DualSense controllers provided by ZenPlay Gaming Lounge.
- Players may bring their own DualSense if pre-approved by admin (macro-free).
- Third-party controllers, arcade sticks, or fight pads require admin approval at least 24 hours before the event.
- Turbo buttons, macros, or hardware modifications are strictly prohibited.
- Controller malfunctions are the player's responsibility. Request a swap from admin before time runs out.
Code of Conduct
- Treat all participants, spectators, and staff with respect at all times.
- Trash talk is limited to friendly banter — harassment, discrimination, or threats will not be tolerated.
- No alcohol or illegal substances on the premises.
- Physical altercations will result in immediate disqualification and removal.
- Spectators are expected to remain quiet/respectful during matches.
- No recording of other players' screens without their consent.
- Players must follow all ZenPlay Gaming Lounge house rules.
- ZenPlay reserves the right to refuse service or participation to anyone violating these rules.
Disqualification Rules
- Failure to check in by 10:45 AM on tournament day.
- Using macro-enabled controllers or any form of hardware cheating.
- Deliberately disconnecting or causing delays to gain advantage.
- Abusive, discriminatory, or threatening behaviour toward anyone.
- Physical confrontation or property damage.
- Sharing your registration slot with another player (impersonation).
- Failure to comply with admin instructions during a match.
- Providing false registration information.
Prize Distribution
- 1st Place (Champion): KES 10,000 Cash Prize + Free Membership Card + Play for free for a month
- 2nd Place (Runner-Up): KES 3,000 Cash Prize + Trophy + Certificate
- 3rd Place: KES 1,500 Cash Prize + Certificate
- All confirmed participants receive a participation certificate.
- Prizes are based on confirmed player count. Adjustments may be announced before the event.
- Cash prizes are paid out via M-Pesa within 24 hours of the Grand Final.
- Winners must provide their phone number to receive prizes.
